Long Beach Island Historical Association and Museum

129 Engleside Avenue, Beach Haven, NJ 08008

None

For over 50 years, the Long Beach Island Historical Association has preserved and shared the remarkable story of Long Beach Island through photographs, letters, artifacts, and personal stories. Founded in 1976, the museum stands as a tribute to the people and traditions that shaped the Beach Haven shore community. To step inside the museum is to step back in time. The engaging exhibits, interactive displays, and extensive archives feature artifacts from early Native American visitors to the island, harrowing stories about shipwrecks, and tales of the brave men and women of the earliest life-saving stations. The museum also tells the stories of families brought to Beach Haven by early railroads, making Long Beach Island one of the earliest beach resorts in New Jersey. A Fisherman’s Cottage, typical of baymen's quarters, was restored on the property in 2009. The museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
