For over 70 years, the Ocean County Historical Society has preserved and shared the rich heritage of this coastal region through its collections, exhibits, and research facilities. Housed in the mid-1800s Elizabeth Sculthorp Force House—a charming Victorian home once occupied by a sea captain and later by pioneering educator Elizabeth Force—the museum features Native American artifacts, period furnishings, local industry displays, artwork, and photographs that bring Ocean County's past to life. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the New Jersey Women's Heritage Trail, the site also includes the Richard L. Strickler Research Center, an extensive archive of books, maps, and genealogical records that welcomes researchers, students, and history enthusiasts exploring the county's stories and family histories.
