Dey Farm Historic Site

401 Federal Road, Monroe Township, NJ 08831

908-812-1482

Step back in time at the Dey Farm, a beautifully preserved 42-acre farmstead that offers visitors an authentic glimpse into Monroe Township's agricultural heritage. Built in stages beginning in 1820, the Dey Farmhouse and its iconic red barns embody the character of early New Jersey farming life. The Charles Dey family acquired the property in 1927, and it remained in the family through Charles L. Dey Jr., who raised his children in this historic home at the heart of Monroe's farming community.

Throughout the 1900s, the Dey family grew potatoes as their cash crop, transporting them to markets in Freehold and South River. They also raised dairy cows and horses, tended chickens and pigs, cultivated hay fields, and maintained a productive vegetable garden.

Now the centerpiece of a living history hamlet, visitors are welcome to experience how generations lived and worked on this self-sufficient farmstead through engaging museum exhibits throughout its historic buildings.
